Tessa Evans wad born without a nose due to a rare disease such as arhinia. Now 18 months old, her parents have gone public with her story to give hope to the other parents whose children was born with the same disorder and to seek help for paying expenses.
She has no sense of smell and no sinuses but apparently she can still catch a cold and sneeze.
Tessa’s condition was first detected during a 20-week scan. Doctors told Grainne and her partner Nathan before the birth to prepare to make difficult decisions about their child.
“Our beautiful daughter was born on Valentines day with a rare congenital facial condition known as arhinia. She was born without a nose. There are only a handful of babies like Tessa in the world,” Nathan and Grainne Evans said.
The artificial nose will be replaced every few years as she continues to grow.
Grainne said she hopes her daughter’s story will inspire other families.
The Evans have now set a donation page for the people who’s willing to help their child. So far, Evans have raised about $6,700.
